Timeline or check List 窶・For a Big-way Jump

Show up at all dirt dives in jumpsuit 窶・unless otherwise directed

Walk through build on the ground with full focus 窶・checking for correct positioning and traffic flow

Rehearse exit in mock-up

Review dive on ride to altitude

Exit fast, but no pushing

Present body to the air stream for maximum stability and control

Upon exit: Immediately identify position of Base relative to you
Exit

Move toward intersection of Base and your radial (below relative level of Base exit position)

Verify orientation of Base 窶・via identification of key individual(s) in Base

Move to radial 窶・stopping in, and maintaining, correct stadium configuration

Focus on your sector of the dive 窶・ignore what is happening in the other sectors (Key to building VLFs)

Identify others who are supposed to be near you (especially those directly ahead of you, or beside you)

If someone is missing from the “picture,” leave a space for them to make an appearance

Check fall-rate during closing move along radial

Continue to be aware of those in immediate your vicinity (avoid collisions / back-packing at all costs)

As approaching along radial, identify each person who is supposed to be between your key Base persons and you

After confirming that each person is not conflicting 窶・move toward final position (staged ツス body-length away)

When it is your turn to dock, move into position, stop completely while maintaining fall rate
(if we are not supposed to dock, fly in position as if we are docked 窶・until key to dock or until break)

Take grip(s) and reconfirm fall-rate (or take actions to match fall rate)

Look to center 窶・maintain desired level, anticipate corrections before they are required

When doing sequential: Anticipate key, look to person giving key, also “watch” back-up key person

Anticipate break-off: look to key person(s), mentally plan to break toward required break-off position

Execute break-off plan when key is given: maintain tracking-team orientation, break-off, wave, deployment

Ensure that opening sphere is clear of danger: look, wave, deploy, be ready to avoid collision

Find DZ and turn toward it; identify wind direction; identify designated landing area

Start to set up approach from maximum altitude: always watching for encroaching canopies on all sides

Set up final approach with excess altitude to allow for deviation if necessary (or find neutral area to land)

On final approach: increase awareness to maximum ( head on a swivel) – watching for encroaching canopies on all sides

After landing: Collapse canopy, turn and look in direction of approaching canopies; drop to knee if appropriate

Clear the landing area when it is safe (Stay off runway, or get off runway immediately after landing if it can’t be avoided)

Check to see that all of those around us are not in need of help

Check-in with manifest or designated team member after all off-field landings
Listen for announcements on loud-speakers
